ddclient running for DynDNS account fails with "SIGTERM"

Assuming that

dyndns_user = charlie
password = hejsan
hostname = charlie.homeftp.net

my file /etc/ddclient.conf is:

Code:
daemon=600                  # check every 600 seconds
syslog=yes # log update msgs to syslog
pid=/var/run/ddclient.pid # record PID in file.
cache=/tmp/ddclient.cache   # Cache file
use=web, web=checkip.dyndns.com/, web-skip='IP Address'
login=charlie               # your DynDNS.com username
password=hejsan             # your DynDNS.com password
wildcard=no
server=members.dyndns.org   # default server
protocol=dyndns2            # default protocol
charlie.homeftp.net
It worked once with this configuration file (I think there was no difference!), I got in /var/log/messages:

Code:
Dec 12 21:01:28 linux-vl1l ddclient[3546]: SUCCESS:  updating charlie.homeftp.net: good: IP address set to 79.216.222.22
But not anymore, I now get

Code:
Dec 12 21:18:24 linux-vl1l ddclient[2888]: WARNING:  caught SIGTERM; exiting
Any wise advice how to find the problem and how to correct?

The file /etc/ddclient.conf is correct, today ddclient updates the dyndns host correctly using these parameters!

I still do not know why I kept getting "SIGTERM" yesterday. Possibly two instances of ddclient were active at the same time but tests today have not given any clear indication of this.

ddclient as downloaded and set up by YaST does not start automatically at boot. It must be started explicitly with
Code:
service ddclient start
How to set up configuration files such that the start is automatic?

Starting ddclient with
Code:
service ddclient start
the time interval set in /etc/ddclient.conf gets overwritten by the explicit time interval 300 seconds set in /etc/init.d/ddclient
