Look in "man ppp" to se what that error code 16 means, and allso check /var/log/messages or whatever. Or better yet, on one console run "tail -f /var/log/messages" and on the other run WvDial and see what's happening.

Thanks. I did the "tail -f /var/log/messages" and in ecence obtained the following :
Carrier detected. Sarting PPP inmediatly. Serial connection established. Using interface ppp0. Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0. Remote message: User Domain missing/unknown/inhibited. Chap authentication failed Hang up (SIGHUP) Modem hangup Connection terminated I verified the /etc/ppp/chap-secrets file and everything is ok. I also tried a script in PERL for dialing from the console and the results are the same. Any suggestions? Thanks |
What's your computer's hostname? Maybe that's what your ISP doesn't like... (User domain missing/unknown/inhibited)
