Angry D-Link WUA-1340 not detected. Please Help!!!

My wirless usb network adapter is not being detected. When I plug it in to my computer, nothing happens, and not even a light flashes. Is this due to missing drivers? When I enter the disc in and continue with the setup, the drivers install fine, but when I proceed onto the connection wizard, it says "Wirless adapter not found! Please insert wireless adapter in now." (FYI im a newbie as you can probably tell.) When I insert the command "lsusb," my adapter is not recognized. What am I doing wrong??

The Ralink RT2501USB wireless LAN chipset is supported by the rt73usb Linux kernel driver, introduced at Linux 2.6.24. Supported devices are listed at the end of this page.
So kali should have loaded something. Snice it runs a newer kernel than 2.6.24 as you can find out with

Code:
uname -r
Frankly. You should try some main stream distro since you have no idea of what you are doing in kali.

Sorry I cannot help more.

Hi...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being new to Linux, we all start somewhere.

This might sound a bit obvious but did you check your adapter on all of your usb ports? Do you get the same results or is there one where Kali "sees" it? Also, try running another distribution live (not installed to the hard drive.) Can you find one that recognizes your adapter?

Regards...

Thanks for the advice , but I have been using Kali for a couple months now and I do know what I am doing. For what I use computers for, Kali is perfect, although i'm not the most advanced with it, it meets my needs. (I also use Ubuntu on my second computer.)

I actually tested it on windows, and it is still not functioning properly. It was just an old $20 adapter that was lying around, and I decided to try using it with aircrack-ng. I also found out that aircrack-ng doesn't support it, so i'm just gonna toss it and order an Alfa AWUS036H instead, but thanks for the help haha

No problem. Since the adapter appears to be non-functional, please mark this thread as "SOLVED."

Thanks!
