CUPS printers not available until Samba is restarted
I am running a little server for my home network based on Debian Woody. It´s been running fine for nearly a year until I recently added another printer.
The configuration now is: Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 CUPS 1.1.14-5 HP Laserjet on /dev/lp0 Epson Stylus Color on /dev/lp1 The Laserjet printer was available to Window$ PCs and worked from the beginning. I then recently installed the Epson Stylus Color on /dev/lp1 and added it via the CUPS web interface. Now I have the problem that both printers are not available until I do /etc/init.d/samba restart after the box is booted. CUPS must be running because I can access the web interface and print the test pages on both printers before and after I restart Samba. I guess it could have something to do with a wrong boot order, but that would really puzzle me, as the system was running fine with just one printer installed... Can somebody shed some light on this? Thanks, Ingo. |
