Cron job from linux box to windows box

Cpanel creates a backup for me everynight and stores it to the backup directory.

I have a tape drive in the windows server and am using samba. I am still learning linux and was wondering how I can setup a cron job to copy those backups to the windows box everynight.

if you can mount the tape drive using samba client then u could write to it that way. i'm not sure how to do this because i have never used samba to access windows stuff...just used it to access Linux stuff on Windows machines. But you could somehow share the tape drive and then have Linux mount it, wirte to it and unmount it. I have never done cron jobs either but i believe those are pretty easy to write once you get the syntax down.

If you can not access the tape drive from your Linux box, you can FTP them to the Windoze box and back them up in Windows, or if you can access the Linux drive from Windoze, you should be able to map a drive and have a backup script to back up only the file(s) you want.

Most good backup software has clients for Linux as well as Windows, etc. You can download a trial version of Veritas Backup Exec 9 that contains a Linux client.
There are plenty of serial #s floating around as well for it.
