Creating ethernet device alias

Hey.

When I'm manually creating ethernet device alias (like eth0:1) or adding new ethernet interface (like eth1) its enough to just create configuration file ifcfg-eth0:1 (ifcfg-eth1) in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ or I have to hard link those conf. files somewhere else? (Or configuring something else?)

you just have to create the ifcfg-device:1 file. no additional links needed.

Ty for reply. But could not be there a problem when you are switching between network profiles? Because as far as I know when you switch profile it is deleting the old conf files in network-scripts and creating new ones with specyfied settings for that profile. So from where it is taking the conf files?
