Could not read network connection list./home/spud/.DCOPserver_Linux Mepis_0

Have just installed SimplyMepis 3.3 on a machine, was sure I set up user acc. properly...but am getting error message

Could not read network connection list./home/myusername/.DCOPserver_Linux Mepis_0

Am reasonably sure I set up user Acc. properly, but believe network card may be problem...as it seems to not initialise network card @ boot. Is fussy "Netgear FA311" network card.

Any thoughts as to where I am going wrong?
