Hi. 1st post!
I have searched all through the similar threads on this (awesome) website, but haven't seen an answer that helps me. Here goes:
when loading certain websites, for instance reuters.com, my network stalls out for about 30-45 seconds then kicks back and finishes loading the page. This is not a problem in Windows XP (on my 2nd drive).
- I'm on a cable modem
- I have a Netgear RP614, operates very nicely
- no surfing problems with windows XP
- happens with Konquerer, Firebird, Mozilla, Gnautilis
- I am running SuSe 9.0 with KDE 3.1.4
- set default gateway to 192.168.0.1 and checked IP forwarding
- it happens randomely yet predictably, for instance it may not happen for a while, but it always happens on reuters.com while trying to contact p.reuters.com (I assume their ad server).
- I can access the other XP machines and transfer files on my LAN without slowdown or issues.
I played with ifconfig, etc. Netstat seems to have some interesting info:
evo6000-Linux:~ # netstat

tcp 0 0 192.168.0.2:34216 64.94.180.107:www-http ESTABLISHED
Could the TIME_WAIT entries be the problem? What are unknown.Level3's?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - this is driving me buggy. That and my hiccupping DVD playback (but that's another post for another forum)
