Constant Data Flow

Hope that is the right forum for my problem.

I have kind of a weird problem. Recently i took a look at Firestarter firewall frontend and saw that there is a constant download rate of about 1.5-2 kb/s and i have absolutly no idea what is causing this.

then i checked the traffic with ifconfig and there was indeed a constant downstrea,.

i checked with chkrootkit if anything funny is installed. but nothing.

then i did a "netstat -pan" and killed all processes that had an active connection or even had a listening socket. still no success.

anyone got ideas about this?

btw i'm using ubuntu and have a cable internet connection.(if that helps in any way)

Maybe packets dropped by firestarter are increasing the traffic counts?
