Connection problems with proftpd

I set up proftpd server and everything was working fine. When I had to switch the internal ip of the machine however, things began to get bad. At first, I had a problem about not being able to find the ip, which I fixed. Now though, when I try to make connections, I'm getting errors. If I try to login with a user that is denyied, I get my normal error message. If I try to log in with a user that is supposed to use the machine, I just get disconnected. If I try to connect with an allowed user but type the password wrong, I just get the error. It seems only to disconnect if I make the connection with the user I want. Quite baffling to me. How can I go about fixing this? All help is much appreciated. Thanks.
