connection lost

Hi, I will be a bit long,
so I have a problem with my inet-connection while I'm playing quake. The problem is that after some minutes of playing I lose the connection between my cable modem and the server. And the way to get it back is to switch off the modem and after switch it back. Then I got a new ip-address, and it works fine until the next 'break'. I was told that my machine don't let some packet in from the server. Well, I on't use any firewall at all. I've already tried some kernels with no packet modification (ipchains,-table, masq.) in it, but makes no difference. And I also tried different quake clients, but the same problem occured. If I'm playing under windows there is no problem.
Any help will greatly appologized

Hey.
Does this only happen when playing quake?
What kind of cable modem do you have?

Well, I haven't tried other games, but other online things (like listening online radios) are working fine. And just under linux.
My cable modem: Terayon TeraPro cable modem.
And another thing: when my connection is lost on the modem there are two leds blinking (the send and the recieve), and the user guide said that if it is doing this that means that the modem is scanning for data channels.
Thanks
