Connection between linux and windows using bluetooth
Hello. I have a school proyect, I have to install a smtp server in a windows computer and then read several windows snmp mib`s values through a linux snmp client. This is the easy part, the difficult part is that I have to connect the windows host with the linux host using ppp (for layer 3) over a bluetooth connection (layers 1 and 2). I have found information about how to setup ppp over bluetooth, but none of this includes information about how to make a connection with a windows computer. I have followed a bluetooth howto for linux, but the hcitool program in linux is not detecting the windows bluetooth device. Is there anyone that knows where can I get specific information to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi DeepSeaNautilus,

I'm not sure if I can help you but my experience is that it is very simple to configure a bluetooth-connection on a Windows-computer. When you connect the hardware, you'll only have to create a new networkconnection using the bluetooth hardware. In Windows the bluetoothhardware shows up as a networkinterface. So I'd try to connect to the Linuxcomputer from the Windowscomputer. Normally on Windows, in the moment when another bluetoothdevice is nearby there will a wizard start and lead you through the rest of the game. I have sometimes connected my mobile phone to a Windowscomputer via bluetooth.
