connecting two subnets

Hi!
I've set up a VPN to use from school, which operates on the 10.8.0.0/255.255.255.0 subnet. I wish to connect this subnet to the private subnet at home, which is 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0.
I don't want to use NAT, since I would like the machines to communicate with each other without any port forwarding hassle. I'm looking for a behaviour similar to bridging two networks, without the use of a dedicated bridge. Is there any way to accomplis this?

you can route between the subnets, Nat isn't required for simple routing because you aren't trying to hide your IP from anything.

You will also need to use DNS or hosts files in order for the machines to find each other by nane if that is important to you.

I've tried routing. This is the route-command I ran on the VPN endpoint:
Code:
route add -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 eth0
and on the web server, to be able to connect to the 10.8.0.0 net:
Code:
route add -net 10.8.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 eth0
,which only resulted in connectivity between the two machines 10.8.0.1 and 192.168.0.102. It's for example not possible for 192.168.0.102 to communicate with my remote machine, 10.8.0.50, at all.
What am I doing wrong here?

EDIT: Never mind. adding the endpoint as gateway solved this. Thanks anyway. Also I have DNS all sorted out using a nameserver on 192.168.0.102
