connecting two computers without using routers or hub


I have two computers(linux). How can I connect direct these computers without using routers or hub.

You would need to use a cross-over cable (not a normal patch cable) and then configure both machines with static IPs that are in the same network, say, 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2.
