Connecting to the internet with LG U8120

Hi all,

I'm trying to connect to the internet using my LG U8120 mobile handset on the 3 network. I am running ubuntu 7.10 and Slackware 10, same problem for both. Ubuntu us the one i really want to get working though to be honest as i use it more. as usual XP works fine. Obviously i have the drivers and LG 'internet kit' so it's easy as pie.

I've tried using GPRSEC, which i can use with my Samsung E900 no problem (this is only EDGE though, LG is 3G) but it doesn't seem to like the LG.

I've tried using wvdial, pppd starts then i get error 16. i've tried countless wvdial.conf settings, tried gnome-ppp, all to no avail.

Has anyone out there had any luck connecting to the internet using this handset? or even using the 3 network? are there any settings for 3 i am overlooking?

If anyone needs a look at logs or scripts pls let me know and i'll post when i finish work.

btw the problem isn't connecting the phone to the pc. It's sat on ttyACM1 waiting for action!

Thanks in advance,

norkers

i've tried all sorts of settings for wvdial.conf with the same results which leads me to think perhaps the problem is specific to the three network? i don't really know. any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
