Question connecting to redhat 7.0 with outlook express

I have a redhat 7.0 box that I can use pine to send and receive messages but when I try to connect to the computer with outlook express, it will connect to the redhat but times out. Also how do I change the pop and smtp ports or find out what they are? I cannot connect to ports 25 or 110 I can connect to port 23.

Lightbulb outlook and linux

the default ports (and timeouts) for pop/smtp are pop=110 smtp =25. You can see this in outlook express under "Tools > Accounts > Mail > Advanced" while there, you can increase the timeout for server connections...although that might not be the problem if the server is close and not bogged down.

Exclamation services

Hi. Im argentinian. and I do not speak english very well.

By default, IMAP extensions (such as POP3 service) are not installed during the installing of RedHat., so If you try to connect to RH from any machine of network, the connection never ocurrs.

Add manually the RPM package (in the CD 2, search for imap*****.rpm where the **** can be some numbers or characters).

Regards, Andres
