Connecting to PPTP-Server from Raspbian, IP doesn't change

Hello,

I am trying to connect a Raspberry Pi to a PPTP VPN Server. I followed the steps from this page:
http://www.networkinghowtos.com/howt...-ubuntu-linux/
After trying to connect the PPTP vpn server, it seems that everything is OK, but my IP stays the same.

Here is the log after connecting to the server:

Code:
Feb 24 03:13:44 raspberrypi kernel: [ 114.858750] PPP generic driver version 2.4.2
Feb 24 03:13:44 raspberrypi pppd[2797]: pppd 2.4.5 started by root, uid 0
Feb 24 03:13:44 raspberrypi pppd[2797]: Using interface ppp0
Feb 24 03:13:44 raspberrypi pppd[2797]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/1
Feb 24 03:13:46 raspberrypi pppd[2797]: CHAP authentication succeeded
Feb 24 03:13:46 raspberrypi kernel: [ 116.937904] PPP MPPE Compression module registered
Feb 24 03:13:46 raspberrypi pppd[2797]: MPPE 128-bit stateless compression enabled
Feb 24 03:13:46 raspberrypi pppd[2797]: local IP address [someIP].11
Feb 24 03:13:46 raspberrypi pppd[2797]: remote IP address [someIP].1
and the information from ifconfig:

Code:
ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
          inet addr:[someIP].11 P-t-P:[someIP].1 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1496 Metric:1
          RX packets:5 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:5 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:3
          RX bytes:62 (62.0 B) TX bytes:68 (68.0 B)
I can connect to the pptp server from my running on windows 7 laptop without any problems and the IP changes.
Raspberry is running on Raspbian GNU/Linux 7.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Why should your IP change? Do you mean in between connection or while staying connected? Not getting where your heading to.

Can you access things behind the PPTP connection? Or is that the problem? From what I see the connection is fine. Just for a hint. Linux does not route everything through a PPTP connection as Windows does per default.

I tried to route my traffic through the VPN, but as far I understand I have established the PPTP connection, but nothing is being routed through it. I am really new to Linux and it is true that I expected the same behavior like on Windows, but as far as I can see, I was totally wrong

My intention is to route the traffic to/from one particular server through the tunnel. How can I do that?

Use the ip route command. Something like

Quote:
ip route add 192.168.100.0/24 dev ppp0
