Connecting to my Linux box using XDMCP
I recently installed Red Hat Linux 8.0 on my second machine at work. On my Windows computer, I use Hummingbird Exceed in XDMCP Broadcast mode to connect to other UNIX machines, and it is very convenient. But I can't connect to my Linux machine. I entered the IP address in Exceed's xdmcp.txt file, but it does not show up in the list of available servers when I start Exceed. What configuration do I have to on the Linux side to allow Exceed to connect using XDMCP?

Setup xdmcp
You need to edit the file /etc/X11/gdm.conf or /etc/X11/xdm/kdmrc.
Change the [xdmcp] Enable=True Second make sure the /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess has: * CHOOSER BROADCAST http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/...rm/config.html |
Great! now Im able to see the X windows on my RH8 box, but when I try to log in I see the RH8 splash screen then it just hangs. Anyone know why?
