connecting to local computers

Basically my problem is I can't view any sort of network through smb4k. I am on a college campus and there's a couple hundred computers networked within my building. It like smb4k sees nothing, I don't know what is wrong or really where to start with it because before when I was at home using a single router all the computers showed up fine with no configuration. Also I can see all the workgroups and computers if I boot into windows. So I am wondering what windows is doing that smb4k and/or smaba is not. I have played with about every setting I can think of to see if something will make it click but to no avail.

Also, I can see other people's printers via CUPS. I don't know if I can print to them but since I can see them it seems like something is working, just not seeing the shares.

The network is dhcp and there's really no place to input anything because it's just fed out to everyone.

Anyone have an idea? I can provide more details on the network if need be, to an extent anyways.

Thanks,
Zach

Sounds like a samba config problem to me. Read the man-pages of samba

Code:
man samba
man smb.conf
and make sure you understand all the options you can put in smb.conf...then try again. I know samba can be tricky
