connecting to internet
 
i want to connect to internet through modem , i can connect throug KPP, but i want to use on command line interface (CLI) no gui tool or utility, Is it possible?

In Slackware type "pppsetup" in a console. It will ask for info, enter it, type ppp-go and you're done. This is the only distro I'm familiar with, but I would imagine others have similar utilities. If you really want to go old school, use Lynx or Links as a browser.

There is a program you most likely already have called wvdial. The setup program for it is called 'wvdialconf'. The setup program produces the /etc/wvdial.conf file.

And this page explains the configuration file. The wvdial program will use auto detection and produce many of the entries automatically.
