So, i finally got puppy (5, i think ) to boot off a USB stick. on a Vista loaded Lenovo laptop i just cant get it to load a module to connect. do i need to load a ndiswrapper module, if so how do i know what to load. I'm a total noob at this.
yeah, i am hard wired to the router. the same OS on the USB stick when used on a sony viao loaded with mint, does APPEAR to connect but just constantly shows as 'loading'.
BUT..on a Lenovo laptop loaded with Vista, it wont even try to connect. Am I supposed to use a ndiswrapper, whatever that means? AM I supposed to load the correct module?
Distribution: Mepis and Fedora, also Mandrake and SuSE PC-BSD Mint Solaris 11 express

Connecting
Make sure that your permissions are set up to connect. Try seeing if your root account can connect online. Also, go into the networking wizards that exist on Puppy. (not sure what you have) Make sure that you have permission to connect or edit your Ethernet port's properties so that you can connect. You may well need your root password. So, have it handy. Hooking it directly to the modem instead of the router will also simplify matters. You can also use an Ethernet switch instead of a router.
