connecting Linux LAN to internet
hello all,
i m fed up now.. i am using fedora core 2... i have a small LAN of 4 computers.. Three are running Fedora Core 2 and one is ruuing Windows XP.. My computer whcih is running Fedora Core 2 in directly connected to internet through a broad band connection.. To connect to internet i am setting up system as a router.. i have set all the iptables rules but still i am unable to access internet by using other systems..

if some one help me ...please come up its very urgent for me to connect my LAN to internet...

try this as root:
Code:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
This is what enables "nat" on my system. Also make sure to setup dns on all the clients.

Using iptables directly is a bit arcane, you might find it easier to install firestarter ( http://www.fs-security.com), its a GUI firewall config program and it appears to have an 'Internet Connection Sharing' wizard.
If you don't mind not having a GUI you could use shorewall, it allows you to edit simple config files to setup iptables rules and it has some very good documentation: http://www.shorewall.net/Documentation_Index.html (see the Quickstart Howtos).
