Question Connecting a computer to the Internet via LAN

Hi!

I have a rather simple question pertaining to LAN connection to the Internet. I was told several times that i don't need any additional software to enable the connection. My computer is Pentium II and is using Windows 98. The computer directly connected to the Internet is Pentium IV and is using Windows XP.
How exactly am I supposed to connect my computer to the Net?

Any constructive advice would be grately appreciated!

Thanks!

deki
