connect windows xp pc to internet trough mandrake 10 linux pc
Hi,
I have 2 pc's,
The first is connected to internet, my desktop is mandrake and internet works.
The second pc is connected to the first pc and is using windows xp.
I want to share my internet connection with my second pc.
But when I boot my mandrake, he says he cant boot (lost the right term) the eth0 interface (failed), the card that connects my windows xp and linux desktop.
The eth1 network (OK) card starts perfectly.
What should I do and how should I configure the cards.
maybe you should try buying a router and plug the second computer in to that, instead of going through the mandrake box. (modem plugged into the router, which is plugged into the two computers)
1. check cable attached and pc(xp) is on.
2. assign manually ip address
#ifconfig eth0 up
#ifconfig eth0 X.X.X.X netmask X.X.X.X
X=ip address and netmask
3. configure squid
4. Assign proxy address in I.E(XP)
