Connect Win XP and Suse 8.2: I'm too stupid...
Hey,
i just installed Suse Linux 8.2 on my machine (Win XP is the Second OS). Works quite well. But: I can't get the network started! My situation: I've got two PCs (one with Win XP and the other one with WinXP/Suse Linux). When i start the second PC with XP,the network works well. But I can't get any connection when starting the second PC under Linux! Problem: When Linux boots, it says that my onboard LAN connector (Asus AV7N8X Board) is "failed". What does that mean? Linux recognized my oboard LAN as eth0,but when I ping 192.168.0.2 (the IP adress i gave the Linux system),there comes "can't connect network"! Please help,i don't know any further.....:( :( :( |
try to manually bring it up and then ping it
ifconfig eth0 up and see if you are still having problems |
Yearr, great! It works now quite well.
But i still can't directly connect to the XP machine (ping works, but i can't see the files on the XP machine) Any idea? |
you will need to have SAMBA installed on your Linux machine in order to see Windows shared files.
once you have that, you can mount the shared Windows folder like this: smbmount //windows-IP/share-name /mount-point |
