Connect my RH 9.0 Linux system to a work MS Network
Well, I'm trying to be a bleeding edge newbie and make a switch from MS XP to Linux on my work machine. The printers in my office are all hanging off of the work MS Network. When I booted up XP, I logged on to a domain on the work network that would give me access to the printers. How would I go about logging on to that domain from Linux?
Someone pointed me to Samba, but what I can figure, Samba is more oriented to the other direction (MS to Linux). I want to go Linux to MS. Thanks to any that can give me a clue... Mark :newbie: |
Samba is both client and server for communicating with the smb protocol.
If you want to set up the printer then you are probably better using the CUPS web interface: 1) Make sure cups is started: service cups restart 2) Access the admin page http://127.0.0.1:631/ 3) Follow the onscreen instructions for adding a printer - when choosing the conenction type select "smb" |
