Connect Linux Live CD to Windows 2000 Server

Hello Linux Community!!! I was wondering if anyone could answer this question. I want to use a Linux live cd to join my school's network. The problem is that i can connect to computers on the network in ANY workgroup if i have a password, but when i try to connect to the internet...NOTHING!!! (If it helps, we use the control-alt-delete login, then we select a domain. Then there is another window after we open internet explorer we have to enter our id's and passwords to get internet because of the firewall) I'm using the new Knoppix and the PCLinuxOS 2007 Live CDs. If I can get to the internet, i can further impress my business teacher because he's pretty impressed. (Computers in question are business grade dells) Thanks in advance!!!

It sounds like you need to log into the domain.

Then it sounds like your firewall is using a standard captive portal, which should work fine assuming you have proper TCP/IP information to connect to the internet and the portal in the first place.
