Connect HP Procurve USB to USB console

I was previously using a rj45 to serial cable with minicom to configure HP switches. One of my colleagues showed me how to do it with USB to USB months ago but they have left. (I should have documented it). I can't remember the application to connect now, searching isn't giving me my answer. What's a good application I can use for this?

Running Debian 9.

Thanks in advance

A usb to serial would be easier I'd think.

Something like this I think. http://janaxelson.com/usb_virtual_com_port.htm

Thanks jefro, that is exactly what I'm talking about.

I remembered what I was looking for, minicom works just fine on USB also but I had to access the tty devices. Apologies that my terminology is a bit off.

It took me days to remember, much confusion, it wouldn't come until I asked for help.
