configuring the internet on redhat 9
 

hi i am an engg student
i am a part of a network switch one of whose ports carries an internet connection
all the other computers in the network use windows xp
to access the net in windows i had to modify the connections/lan settings in the internet explorer properties
there i had to change the proxy settings and had to provide the name of the proxy server and the port number.
i wish to access the internet through redhat 9
my network card is shown active in the network configurations window
i dont know what to do next as i am a newbie
(i suppose i have to configure the samba server and have to change the proxy settings too)
can anybody please help me...

Hi

Linux RH9 comes with an application called mozilla . Either press the icon for it to run , or else use in the command line this command " mozilla & " . It should open the web browser page for you .

i configured the proxy settings in mozilla.
(remember our university is using a proxy server)
but still i cannot connect to the net
i have configured samba however and i can see and access other windows computers on the network
is there another solution?????
