Post Configuring ppp to connect to my internet provider through a modem

System : kubuntu 6.06 with KDE
Modem : US Robotics - seems functionnally OK, I can dial out etc...
When I connect to my provider, there is no answer.
The connection, under Windows, works fine.
I suspect a protocole/config problem, in handshaking with the server.
