I have never used Linux before. I just installed Red Hat 3 on my Laptop and I discovered some problems:
1. My sound card was not detected, so I can play CD's
2. I do not know how to configure my network card to acess the Internet. I work in an environment where a window server2000 is the domain controller. How do I join this network to be able to access network resources.
3. The soft touch mouse on my machine (Compaq nx6110) is not working if I boot on Linux, whereas it works perfectly well with windows XP on the same machine.

Someone should please help me out

The first comment is that RH3 is very old and therefore unlikely to contain the hardware support you need. I would therefore suggest you download Fedora or Ubuntu which would allow you a more graceful entry into the Linux world. If you intend to proceed with this install using version 3 then you are going to be faced with installing a newer kernel to suppot the hardware.
