I have a Slackware machine running version 10.2 and a Windows XP machine. I want to set up the two to connect to the same cable modem and to share the internet connection. The linux machine has two network cards and I want to make it the server machine: aka the Windows XP machine must connect thru the linux machine in order to use the internet link. As I am a newbie and used to Windows XP only, I would like to know first of all how to configure IP addresses for the two network cards in the linux machine: one network card should be used with DHCP in order to connect to the Internet directly using the cable modem and the other one should have a static IP to connect to the XP machine (I will set up the XP machine with a static IP and with the static IP of the linux machine as gateway). I know very few linux commands and I would appreciate a succession of commands rather than a literal description. I can read the man pages for the commands I do not know; now however I don't even know what commands to use
