Configuring Fedora 3 as an internet gateway

Ok, this is the first place I am even going to start looking for help, seeing as everytime I ask a question it's answered or i'm directed to an answer. Anyway, I have some questions about how to set up a linux box as a router/internet gateway. First off, I have a fedora core 3 running on a PII 450 mhz/128 mb box with 3 NICs (1 onboard, 2 PCI cards). My home network right now consists of six PC's running windows 2000 or windows xp, a 4 port switch / router (that can be configured to not be the gateway), and another 4 port switch. I want to have the linux box running as the gateway so I can perform some packet shaping to increase the speed of regular web traffic over such things as say Bittorrent or Kazaa traffic. I've already taken a good look at the trafic shaping stuff, and I can probably figure all that out on my own, but I have no idea as to where to start when setting up the box as a gateway, the card that is plugged into my cable modem will not get an IP address and I don't know what to set the other card's addresses to. I figure I only need 2 NICs for this, so I am just using the two PCI cards. 1 to the cable modem, 1 to the router / switch. I can change the router to not be the DNS server, as I want the Linux box to do that as well. Can anyone either give me some good pointers as to where to start and what to setup and how, or point me in the direction of a good readme or FAQ?

Thanks in advance!
