configure two nework card


i a nwebie in linux and i am using mandrake 10.0 i am trying to share adsl internet connection with two lan cards one for local land and other for adsl modem.
I have assigned static ip for etho -> 192.168.10.70 and eth1 -. 192.168.10.80 i connect etho to a switch where all other machines are connected and eth1 to adsl modem.

when the cable from adsl modem is not connected to eth1 i am able to ping 192.168.10.70 and i a able to log in using ssh. when I connect adsl modem
cable to eth1 i am not able to ping 192.168.10.70 and i am not able to login using ssh what could be problem

What's the suggested configuration your ISP gave to you? did he said that you have to asign a static IP to your card conected to yor ISDN modem?

This sounds like overlaping networks:
192.168.10.70/24
192.168.10.80/24
Are on the same network, routing will get messed up.

If your ADSL modem has an integrated router, you should connect it in the switch.
Hint: If you use a private ip on your connection to the modem, it probably has a router.
