Configure local LAN client to boot from remote pxeboot

Hey I need some help in getting understanding with configuring my remote server(Gentoo) to boot my bsd.rd(OpenBSD install kernel) from my local LAN client. I have read countless articles and the rather obtuse dhcpd.conf and dnsmasq.conf which has left me with a headache and no progress. Any suggestions that other SA's have used to overcome this obstacle to a neophyte in training will help.

How remote do you mean? If on same lan segment then one answer. If across world then another.
