configure cisco pcmcia card on my laptop

OS = Mandrake 10.1

I have a Dell laptop with a cisco 350 wireless pcmcia nic.

Can anyone tell me how I configure it. I have done into 'Hardrake' and under network connections there is my eth0 for my wired lan connection then there is an eth1 and wifi which both appear be the same . I go through the wizard and set my ssid name and my ip settings. When it asks for the encryption key, I enter it as ascii mode and when all is done it restarts the network services but when I try to ping a host on my lan, it says 'destination host unreachable'

When I do an ifconfig eth1 or iwconfig it shows my card with the ip set but it cannot communicate on the lan.

Am I missing something here. For example when I enter the wep key am I suppose to enter the hex version instead of ascii?

ok, What I have done is disable wep for the time being. The only security I have at the moment is mac filtering. I am now connected to the internet via this cisco card. So im guessing that I was enterting the encrytpion key wrong. The only trouble is, I don't know the hex key becuase when I enter the wep key into my access point (dlink 2100ap) it just turns the key into a load of stars so I cannot read them. Does anyone know How I can solve this?
