communication error

hi,everyone

I have a client/server program(developed by perl), which has been tested in several
full version linux systems.When I put the client program into a small version
linux, which located on a device(it's for controlling the monitoring light),it can
send message to server(TCP socket), but can't get the correct message from the server.

I print the message it get is:
...IO::Socket::INET=GLOB(0x8056810)
But this should be like 100.200.red.CRC...

I think this problem may be caused by this is small version, less some package...
Any one can tell me how to check which package need to install/what problem with
this small version linux system.

thanks in advance.

It would help if you would tell us what "large" & "small" "version linux" you used.

Do you know which line of the Perl script causes the failure?

...
while($messageResponse = <$serverHandle>) {
print "[$currenttime] $messageResponse\n";
...

$messageRespnse is the message (like 100.200.red.CRC...)server return
to client,but now I got IO::NET....

Good, you know where the error is coming from. Now let's track down the underlying cause.

If it runs on a "large" ver. of Linux & fails on a "small" one, then I think you're right in suggesting that it's a missing package.

So: Which vers. of Linux are you using? This is crucial to helping you find the missing package(s).

Also, can you alter, i.e. add the missing package(s), to the embedded Linux?

Finally, how long is the perl script? Please don't post it, just the output of running it through wc:
Quote:
wc <path/to/perl/script>
