Just a tip for those having a homepage hosted by German Telekom
You are now obliged to use sftp instead of ftp for up/down load of contents. The syntax for sftp is
sftp
user@hosting.telekom.de
The problem with this is that the user name "user" that German Telekom assigns the users contains this character "@"!
The solution I found is that the sftp server recognizes a UNIX type backslash "" to escape the special meaning of "@"!
One can therefore use
sftp string\@string.homepage.t-online.de@hosting.telekom.de
