Collecting System Information

Hi,

I would like to collect general System information like

OS, Version,

all the n/w adapters present,

thru a C program.

Please provide some light on how this can be done....any useful resource available on the net??
I do not want to use "uname" and "ifconfig".

uname, ifconfig, route etc all collect their information from the /proc filesystem

Have a look at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...e/ch-proc.html
