client with no networking behind router


Hi,
first i must say, that the problems -i cannot ping anything except IPs of my pc/router- appear with either the firewall of the pc/router running or not. The pc/router -i have bridged my ADSL router and created a pppoe connection to my pc/router- is running OK.
The only thing i have changed in the client pc is to remove the previous default route of the client PC and create a new one to the NIC of the pc/router destined for the local connections (10.0.0.9).

In the pc/router, i have also enabled ip_forward.

Well, there's a couple options here:

1. Do you have other clients behind the pc/router? If not, or if you do and they can't get out either, you've probably got a problem with your NAT setup. If you don't have NAT (aka IP Masquerade) set up, that's why the client pc isn't working. A pc with a 10.*.*.* address can't communicate directly with anything on the internet, and needs NAT (Network Address Translation, known as Internet Connection Sharing in Windows) on the router. There's a simple HOWTO and a much longer one that can probably help you out. Also, a google search will probably get you a LOT of results.

2. If other clients (besides the pc/router) are working, there's something different between those clients and this one. It might be a firewall on the client PC, a configuration problem on the router, or something else I can't think of.

Thanks a lot! As you described the problems, i think mine is hidding behind curtain number 1 -yes,i have only one client. I had heard of "IP Masquerade", but i didn't know its real use.
