client can't copy files to local machine through vsftpd server on RH9

I have just installed and started vsftpd on my RH9 box at home. Just to test it, I've been accessing my folders via ie browser. I can see the files fine.
The problem arrises when I try to copy them to windows...the copy dialog box shows, but it does not progress and the file does not copy, it just locks up. The thing is, when the file is a jpg and I open it, I can then save the image locally. I also tried the dos ftp program with the same results.

It has to be something deathly simple, any help?

could this be ftp folder/file ownership or permissions issues?

The permissions are fine, I think it is the firewall, I will start looking into it during my [free] time at work. Thanks!

I flushed the iptables and was still not able to download files. Would I have to restart the server?

only if you made changes to the vsftpd.conf, and you would only need to restart the service...
#service vsftpd restart

I still have problems, even after clearing the firewall and restarting....should I try another type of server?

Alright, because i'm doing this from work on an secure (anal) network, I was restricted from downloading here. I don't know how?! because I was able to download programs to install off the internet, but not from my ftp site. Go figure.
