Cisco VPN-Client

I am having trouble installing an cisco-vpn client in linux.
Currently under RedHat 9 (have tried some different distros also)

When trying to install the Cisco VPN-Clinet version
3.5.1 and
3.6
I get this error : "cisco_ipsec is compiled using gcc 2 and the kernel is compiled using gcc 3, this is known to fail" (rougly)

When trying to install the Cisco VPN-Clinet version
3.7.3 and
4.0
I get this error : "cisco_ipsec will taint the kernel" when trying to start the vpn client.
And this error : "Incorrectly built binary which accesses errno, h_errno or _res directly. Needs to be fixed." when trying to connect.

Full output (whitout install) of 4.0 client messages :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[root@xxxxx vpn]# /etc/init.d/vpnclient_init start
Starting /usr/local/bin/vpnclient: Warning: loading /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/CiscoVPN/cisco_ipsec will taint the kernel: no license
