Channel switching with ad hoc network

I would like to add a feature to my creation of an ad hoc (ibss) network.
Secifically, what is the effect to the 1) network and 2) its users if at a designated time all users change the channel the network is using?
Does it bring down the network? Break the user's connection with the net? What effects can I expect and trix to deal with them?
Thanks
