changing the default squid error pages
 
Can we change squid's error pages? i wanted to change it to look somewhat friendly. hehehe :p

if yes, how?

Have a look in your squid.conf file for the settings; error_map, err_html_text and deny_info. They may do what you want.

the error pages themselves just sit happily in a directory like /usr/share/squid/pages (check your installed package content for the exact location) which you can just change directly with vi or whatever.

wowoweee! thanks guys for your help! We were able to change the squid pages by editing the files acid_kewpie said. We were able to manipulate it just like any other webpage but the problem is that we had to use a webserver to store the external files. Since, squid doesn't load those files.

after we've changed the pages we restarted squid (# service squid restart)
