yeah im a dumbass newbie. im running mandrake 9.1 how do i change my NIC driver. i didnt have the card installed when i installed the distro and picked the wrong driver. how do i change it? its a Netgear FA312 -btw

The first thing to try is running mandrake control center>network & internet>drakconnect. You can rerun your network setup/configuration by ticking the launch wizard button.
