Question Change default route metric

I have this case were someone brings their laptop to me to fix and the openvpn causes the network to stop working. Mostly because it's now on the local network and trying to route everything through the tap0 interface.

NetworkManager sets the other two route metrics to 1 (lan) and 2 (wireless).

Since I can't seem to find out to get either program to set the tap0 metric to 3, I thought what if I change the default to 3. Then let NetworkManager override the default.

Is there a way to change the default route metric? Or is there a way of forcing anything routed through tap to a higher metric?

Sounds like you just need to check the "Use this connection only for resources on its network" box, click the routes button in vpn connection properties to get to it.
