Chaintech Lan Module?
i'm trying to get the proper Lan drivers installed but i can not find what kind of drivers i need. its a relatively new board,a Chaintech 7NIL1. this is my first shot at a Linux OS, so please be gentle. i've installed Libranet classic, and i need to chose from a list of modules? that i'm given when i choose install manually. autodetect does not work. the Chaintech website does not say what kind of Lan it is, so any help is much appreciated.

From Googling I've found this -> CHIPSET NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP Supports 10/100Mb Fast Ethernet with external PHY And from Chaintech -> Chipset * NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400+ nForce2 MCP On-board LAN controller * Supports 10/100Mb Fast Ethernet with external PHY So, let's browse to the Nvidia site and see what we can come up with, eh? -> Quote:
You may glean some info from the README file for those Nvidia nForce drivers. For instance, it states Quote:
We do also have a Libranet forum here at LQ, where questions specific to your distribution may be posted. Supposedly, the particular forums will get views and posts from persons more familiar with those distros. Maybe someone, somewhere, with that motherboard can tell you the specific module it requires. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but you said, "any help is much appreciated," and this came from Jeremy in the 0 Replies email notice. BTW - If you will post your distribution and location in your control panel via user cp at the top of this page, it might help you get better responses sometimes. |
thanks for the response! i'm using Libranet Classic btw. i saw no options for nvnet,so i just bought a used NIC pci and i managed to get online. i'm sure as time passes,i'll get the hang of this OS,but getting a card i saw on the list seemed like an easy solution for now-Mike
