cant get a wireless connection

hi. i would like to connect an "e.system 1201" laptop to a "netgear dgn1000" router using a wireless connection, i can get a wired connection to work but not a wireless connection. i beleive the network card in the laptop is a "ralink wireless card for advent/e.system". could anybody tell me if any linux o/s is compatable with the wireless card. thanks in advance for any help.

Would it be possible for you to provide us with more information please?

if possible, could you open a terminal, login as root, and run the following command:

lspci

and resond with the results.
