Canon S300 Printer Via SMB

Ok well i have my pc upstairs in my room running xp pro and it is a print and file server for my network. anyway I can print to it via all other computers running windows but I seem to be have a bit of a problem getting it to work in gnomes lil wizard thing, also i am using the gimp print driver for the s800 which works when i directly connect the printer via usb.
ok pc hostname for ms networking is
christop-10od2y
i have it set to print as guest so i input that into the criteria
since the printer is shared by the name canon i input that however it will still not print a test page or anything. umm help lol

one thing that helped me with a usb printer (hp) on Windows using via samba cups from linux
had to disable "bidirectional" support in the windows driver

beyond that first question are you using cups pront server from Linux.
if you are the first thing to do is access cups with
http://127.0.0.1:631
and setup the printer
forget the gnome thingy
