Cannot use my home-network. May be a driver problem...
I installed Slackware 9.1. It runs smooth, but cannot use my home-network.
I have three computers conected through a Hub. The 4th (runing slack) worked well on XP. I have an old genius lan card. W2000 described it as a Realtek RTL8019, and was using a NE2000 driver (¿?). I have not been able to use the network. When I prompt ifconfig -a, eth0 does not appears. Also, dhcp (wich is what i'm using) config file is empty ¡? when I run netconfig it runs fin, but apparently does nothing... eth0 does not even exists!
When the systems starts, it detects my "genius lan 2000III".
if I fun dhcpd, nothing happens.
To make matters worse, i installed the thing again, but screw the lilo part. So that i cannot loggin (a lot of numbers appears when the system restarts and lilo does not appears, and finaly the system crashes). But (I go lucky this week) my floppy is not working so that i have no idea about how to rescue the system... ¿Am i going to have to install the whole thing, again?
I'm going mad... been on this for the last 3 days... i would REALLY appreciate any help.
Thanks.
